Hello everyone!

In the personal statement, we need to mention why we chose pharmacy? Also education, experience and our long term goals. I have breifly listed and explain all of the above. But, my advisor told me that I should also explain my low GPA in my personal statement. I did pass all the classes with a grade of C or higher. I don't have any D or Fs on my transcript. But I do have 3 Ws. Lot of people tell me not to talk about GPA in the personal statement, mostly focus on your positive qualities. So I don't know what to do! 😕

please help!
-Thank you

If you are confident with your academic background, leave as is. If not, then revise and explain. Own up to your mistakes. Don't dwell.

Have your grades been going up or down?...if they've been going up, perhaps you can put a positive spin on your past performance and reflect on how you've grown as a student.

Hey! Listen. You don't need to follow every word from your advisor. Afterall, it's a PERSONAL statement, not your advisor. I have 9 Ds and 4 Fs on my transcipts and I didn't mention them in my pharmcas PS at all. Instead, I talked strongly about my experiences and motivation to become a distinguished pharmacist.

Think about it this way: Adcoms ALREADY have your transcripts and they already KNOW about your grades, don't keep reminding them of your poor academic records in a place that is meant for you to shine. Instead focus on your positives in your PS. There will be places on the supplemental where you can talk about reasons for low grades.

Adcoms don't care about WHY you received low grades as much as they care about what you are doing to improve so low grades won't occur again. I hope this helped. Good luck:xf:

Thank you all for your help...I am just going to talk about my my passion for pharmacy, work experience, long-term goals and all the other positive qualities..🙂

Idk why she told me to explain my low GPA..she is a bad advisor lol
