A tip for folks: If you ask someone to read/comment on your PS and they do, THANK THEM.
Out of the many folks I've taken the time to help, only about 50% have had enough class and consideration to thank me for my time. And if you get constructive criticism don't become defensive or take it personally. The PS reader is trying to help you.

Agreed! About 60% of the people I read PS's for thanked me. Those that thanked me made up for those that didn't. Please respond with a "thank you" when someone does something nice for you.

You believe gratitude is in order?! I mean, all you did was possibly give them that little edge that bumped their entire application a little closer to the top of the pile!
Seriously, unbelievable. What a resource this entire board is. I've been perusing it for about four days now and I feel like thanking the creator of every post I've read!
Either way, it's really remarkable that you all do take away from your fleeting time to help out others reaching for the same star that you are. I sincerely hope that deep down, whether they say it or not, they do appreciate what you've done for them and that they couldn't have banged out such a great personal statement without you.
