Hi,
I'm almost out of my personal statement limbo. Anyways straight to the question:
do you think the statement should be more formal or more casual? I have send my paper to alot of people and everyone has a preference for wording. Whats your take? which side should it be on?

It should be formal yet casual. I can't really explain it. I read some that used 'big' words and it just wasn't natural. Make it seem like you're talking to the adcoms.

Here's a sentence I used. Don't try to use difficult vocab, and don't be turned away to using small words also.

" My self-esteem was impaired by the unrelenting ridicule of my peers due to my appearance and I did not care. Heck, food was my escape, which turned into a lethal cycle. "
