Just recently I've been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease and I was wondering if I should talk about it in my personal statement or if that will discourage medical schools from accepting me. Doctors told me I wouldn't be able to go to school, but I ended up getting a 3.7 that quarter. I can say it made me stronger and work harder but also is it better to avoid it?

I am very sorry to hear that. Please don't forget to take care of yourself. Life isn't just about getting into med school.

As to whether it would help you in admissions, I yield to SDNers who are more qualified to answer the question.

I wish you the best.

Does your diagnosis have anything to do with why you want to be a physician and/or why you are qualified for a career in medicine? If so, include it. If not, don't. The diagnosis itself will neither help nor harm your chances.
