I am working on my personal statement for next cycle and was wondering how long where most of yours out there. What font size did you use? I believe mine is a bit long and will not fit on the sheet.
thanks

Dinene 🙂

Sounds like you are sending a paper application in. If you want some un-asked-for advice, I suggest you submit your application via the AADSAS website. Its more secure and really easy to use. You are almost guaranteed to not miss a section when using it, on the other hand, paper can get really confusing and you might forget to mail a page in.

Now, if your still interested in sending a paper application in, I think the font size they want is 10, it should say on the instructions section. If its too long, edit it, if what you take out is good, what you leave in will be GOLD! GOLD JERRY!

Mine was about 800 words.

The limit is 1000 words.

My personal statement was only 800 words. I had some other good stuff that I could have added, but when I did it just seemed like 1000 words was too long. It's hard to cut the FAT out of a paper. If you have trouble editing yourself, I would have someone else help you with it. I let some of my profs give me some feedback.

If you are submitting it online then the choice of font and its size is irrelevant as the minute you cut and paste your document into the AADSAS application it is changed to Courier. In addition the online application actually counts characters and not words. I believe they state that the word limit is based on an average of 6 characters per word. My essay was 975 words long and when I tried to submit it I was prompted to decrease the word count. I think I ended up with 925-900 words.

Yes, this is true. Most word processors can count characters as well as words. You'll have to make sure that your essay is under 6,000 characters.

thanks for your replys
