courier new, either 10 or 12 pt...try to limit yourself to a one page equivalent in MS Word, but you can write more into ERAS (but PDs won't necessarily read more than one page).
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but MS Word is a good place to check overall length, spelling, and grammar. But put it on notepad or something like that. I had friends who tried to cut and paste from Word onto the ERAS personal statement form, and they had some pretty subtantial formatting errors. ome of them caught it in time to make changes before submitting and others didn't. Pretty embarassing.

Oh yeah....I remember that now. Copy it from Word into notepad, and then from notepad into ERAS to avoid all your symbols and punctuation marks from turning into other symbols and stuff that you can't see until you print out the page.
