hi, does anyone know from experience how many words will fit into the personal statement??? i mean i wrote my allopathic essay and then looking at the osteopathic one, it looks sooo much shorter..?? any thoughts!!!

The folks at American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine might be wiser than you think.

All they are asking for is a clear and concise statement that explains why you are interested in osteopathic medicine.

In other words, K.I.S.S.

Being concise is the key!!! They're trying to see if you really have interest in Osteopathic Medicine.

Besides, you'll get your opportunity to shine during your secondaries.... Trust me, they'll have room for you then. That was my first reaction to the primary application, but completely did a 180 once I saw the secondary apps questions.... Unlike, most allopathic schools, osteopathic med school do do an initial screening, thus you have to show in your primary statement that there is interest in the profession.... I'm not an expert, just my two cents....

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you'll get your opportunity come secondaries to tell more. Good luck to your application and such...

One more thing, I believe the word limit for the primary statement was 325 for last year, but for some odd reason the on-line application allowed me only 300 words.... I ended up forcing myself to shorten it down to 285 words. There were problems that arose during last years on-line app. This was because it was the first time that it was implemented. Now that the AAMCAS is doing the same thing as AACOMAS, AAMCAS is also having problems.... go figure. Anyway, keep your primary personal statement around 300 and you should be fine!!!

I know that the AAMCAS application is on-line (incredibly slow!).

My questions:

(1)Is there another method of submission to
AAMCAS?

(2)Is AACOMAS on-line as well? If so, when
will it be available?

Thank you!

(1)Is there another method of submission to AAMCAS?

This question has been going through my mind for the past few days. I mean, wouldn't it be nicer to submit the application the good old-fashioned way?

(2)Is AACOMAS on-line as well? If so, when will it be available?

I think the online application will be available around May 14th. Unlike the AMCAS application, this application's submission date will stay at June 1st.

Thanks Wasabe!

Hopefully we can all get through this application process unscathed. Of course, this does not mean that we have to remain patient, damn it! 😡
