How many words is the personal statement suppose to be? What are they looking for in it?
Thanks
Joe

I don't think they necessarily care about word number. Are there still copies of the paper form of the application available? I had the advantage of typing mine out on that to get an idea for how much they wanted. It's basically about 4/5 the size of a regular sheet of paper, and I did mine single-space (spacing only between paragraphs) and 10-pt font, and I filled the alotted space. What is good about doing it on the comp, is that there is no space limit, so you don't have to cut out things you like if you can't fit them. My advice is to see how much space your statement would take up on regualtr paper. If it is too longs, they will get bored reading it! It is better to have a shorter one with stronger content!

what I did was just turned in the aadsas by paper, not on computer (I know, the old school way). Thus I stayed within space the application alloted (10 point, single space, double spaceing between paragraphs to give a less crowded appearance, from top to bottom), which I feel gave a good hint on how long they would "like it" to be. I know on computer, they give you "a lot" more room, but in my opinion a ps is all about quality, not quantity. I agree with the previous posts that if its too long, the readers will get bored, so watch out and don't get carried away with the space the computer gives you. -good luck
