i think the maximum # words is about 1000.

now does it reflect negatively on you if your ps is far less than 1000 words? (say 800, 900?)

also does anyone know any place that revises your ps?

first, it's 4500 characters (including spaces)

no, it does not reflect negatively if it is less than the max...in fact, it is probably better that way.

lastly, your university's english dept. probably has a writing center where a PhD student could critique your resume.

hi

the length of the personal statement does not matter-given that you are thorough and convey your ideas well. at the same time, you don't want it to be one or two paragraphs either. but 800-900 words is fine. i'm passing on a helpful tip..... once you think you've completed your statement. put it aside for a few days and then look at to see if it says what you are trying to convey....do have at least a few ppl look at it.
