Even though I'm not gonna be applying for some time, I want to start writing my personal statement. Do most of the dental schools pretty much have the same prompt or does each school usually want something different?

You apply to dental school using AADSAS, which then forwards your application to all the dental schools you apply to. There is only one prompt on the AADSAS application:

"Your Personal Statement should address why you desire to pursue a dental education and how a dental degree contributes to your personal and professional goals."

Schools may have different essays for their secondary applications though.

All dental schools probably want the same sob story... you know. Depending on the dental school, some prefer the statement to be focused on the subject of dentistry, while others want to hear more such as volunteering or researching experiences. Whatever it is, the statement should flow and be really positive. If your GPA is low, why? Why should they accept you over a 4.0 student? Give the reader every reason NOT to reject you.

Oh yeah.... all this **** in a page! 😳

Cuz I'm the s*&t! 😀

But,seriously thanks both of you. It takes me a while to get my thoughts together and I'm trying to figure out which angle I'm going to approach this from. Considering my circumstances, I definitely need my personal statement to work for me. I'm glad that writing is not a handicap for me. Thanks!
