Hey All, I am currently writing my personal statement, and I was wondering if anyone on here who has been accepted would be kind enough to post their personal statement (or PM it to me). I have found a few online, but I just like reading other people's to see what they are talking about.

Thanks, CV

You should just write your own without anyone else's in mind. When I wrote mine I didn't look at anyone's until after I had a rough draft done. I basically looked at examples to make sure mine wasn't too obscure. Besides that, your personal statement is the only section on your application that let's you say anything you want to the admissions committee. If anything, I'd try to make it as personal and genuine as possible. I'm sure people will be willing to send their old statements to you but just make sure it's coming from you!

thanks for all the replies....and, I have already written my rough draft....just looking for some obscure ideas of how I might improve it

Thanks for linking to me. I have some examples up that some people have been so king to send to me. I am still accepting more so when it comes time to give back, do so. It helps those out below you in the ranks.

If you are worried about people mooching, the essays can be edited, names taken out etc. and WHO CARES? You are already in dental school. Throw someone a friggin bone😀

Grammar, spelling and good structure.

Bring it to an English major or professor and ask/pay them to review/edit it. you'll be surprised to know alot of faculty toss apps based upon the first paragraph.

wow some of these essay on dmdstudent are really good and so concise! my rough draft is freaking 2 pages! i just can't help and bare my soul to them i guess there's just SO MUCH i want to tell them. REading these makes mine sounds so cheesy too but I really do mean what i say... i guess they hear it all the time too but i don't know any way to get around it cuz i am being genuine
