You can write about it whenever, although many secondaries will ask that question specifically.
I would be happy to give you feedback on it. I've done two cycles now, and I've gotten some input from some pretty good people on how this should be done, so I think I've got a pretty good feel for it. I've read several from people on here too.
i agree with tt. you don't have to necessarily address being an osteopathic physician in your personal statement, as you will have plenty of opportunities to address that in your secondaries. however, you should definitely be writing about why you want to be a physician and the life experiences that have developed and prepared you to become one. good luck!
If you already have a good idea why you have chosen osteopathic medicine, include it in your personal statement. I shadowed a DO prior to medical school and included it in my PS. It definitely helped in the interview process.
I wrote one personal statement and used it for both MD and DO applications. So, no I didn't specify osteopathic medicine, and I received an interview at a bunch of DO schools, so they must not care. However, in the secondaries I was sure to address osteopathic medicine specifically.
