  1. Dentist
Hi, I am a foreign trained dentist, applying for the first time to a residency program.
could anyone please guide me as to what i should write in my personal statement coz i have never written one before.
is there any website where i can find samples of personal statements so i can get an idea from them.
thanks

talk about your personal experience ,,,
1- y did you become a dentist,
2- your motivation to enroll in the postoperative programs,
3- your experienece and what was added to you,,
4- Y are you applying to that programs,...

Try to make it sound as an intresting story..
dont be traditional ... dont say i am a hardworker and eager to learn,, like everyone says,, try to be more creative ..
the better a personal statement you have got, the more it tells about your personalilty,

Is it better to write a customized essay for each program or write a common one for different specialities?

If one is writing a common essay for more than one speciality subject- say endo and perio, how do we go about it?

Thanks.

Simple answer. Why would you be applying to two specialties? The two will find out, know you aren't really interested in either, and reject you. You should decide what you really want to pursue and write an essay tailored towards that. I guess if you are insistent on applying to more than one, I would probably write different essays for each.

describe yourself as a teamplayer and decisive and willing to do what it takes to help your senior residents succeed.

nothing else you can say will even matter.
