Do most people write one general personal statement or multiple different ones tailoring to each school?

I wrote one general essay, I don't think it matters. It's honestly up to you though.

I wrote a generic essay, and then sent personalized essays to the different colleges. I attended a webinar (from Berkeley) where they said to show the schools that you've researched them and know why you want to go there. I think I added 2-3 personalized sentences to each essay.
