personal statements and other areas of the aplication for PharmD.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
be creative and try and shed some insight into yourself and what makes you you, that might not otherwise come out in the application. Generally it's not nearly as important as you think it is when you're writing it. Do a nice job, don't make any grammatical/spelling errors and have a few people read over it.

Good luck

I disagree strongly. I think it is a very important part of the application. The personal statement and the interview are the only 'human' factors of the process. Since pharmacy is a people-oriented profession, the schools DO care what kind of person you are...not just that you kicked butt on the PCAT or aced organic. Although I don't think an average, run of the mill personal statement may be too deterimental to your application, an excellent personal statement can be your ticket in. I found this out first hand. Although my numbers were good, I think my personal statement solidified my acceptance. During my interview, my interviewer outright told me that my personal statement "blew her away". I realized then that it was worth the effort that I put into it.

Can someone give me some tips about the personal statement on the aplication

Write in a creative style instead of another biography. Be honest and don't make up things, as they can ask questions from your personal statement. Get someone who knows you well to proofread your statement draft and ask them what's unique about you so that you can impress the ad com. You may want to talk about what're the challenges you encountered, how you deal with that and overcome, or what did you get out/learn from those experience. The ad com wants to see your ability to solve problems and compassion to serve people. The last step is grammar check, and do it when you think you've put down everything you want to say.

Good luck with your application!

Thank you to all of you for the input.I need double help because English is my second language.
