What do you guys think about programs giving interviewees a personality test?

Is it just to see how you react?
Is there something specific they are looking to uncover?

I would say it's a pretty good indicator of program pathology. How did you do on the test? Maybe you're the only one that got tested? 😉

I think any program trying to look too hard into what is said during an interview is silly.

I was in several organizations where we had to interview dozens of people a year, and aside from the obvious (e.g. someone coming in smelling bad, with rotten teeth) there was almost no correlation with the interview and how well they did later on.

Of course anyone wanting the position is going to tell you what you want to hear.

If a program really wants to know your personality...they ought to make you take an MMPI. At least that one has some science behind it.
