As the radiology residents here know, the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) runs a course on radiologic pathologic correlation at Walter Reed Medical Center in D.C. that nearly every radiology resident attends. Walter Reed is currently slated to close with the base closure bill that is before Congress. Although the radpath course may be continued in a different location, things are still uncertain. As a resident who is scheduled to go to AFIP next spring, this is highly disturbing to me. This is a great resource and amazing course that needs to stay alive.

A petition is going around right now to save the AFIP, which also does other education programs and has an amazing tissue repository. Please take the time to sign this petition (all you need is your name and email address, which will be kept private). I think we need to do whatever we can to help keep this going. Pass this petition around to your fellow residents, fellows, and attendings as well.
