I have 3 cats, 6 dogs (Blue Heeler, Mutt, Pug, English Bulldog, Shih Tzu, and Jack Russell), 4 miniature Zebu cattle, 1 angus, 2 ostriches, pigeons, bantam and standard chickens, goats, an African Grey parrot,5 reef aquariums with fishes and invertebrates, freshwater angelfish, and a Reeve's turtle. Growing up, I had more, but I down sized before I went to college because I didn't want my mom to have take care of all those animals!

OH EM GEE. my mom wanted to disown me when i got a dog. she threatened to kill me if i got a pig as a pet. 😀

Currently share my home with 5 dogs (3 lab mix rescues and 2 french bulldogs) and 1 crazy rescued cat. Hoping my second cat will return since he's been missing for 2 weeks! 😡

I also have 2 horses (1 friesian/arab cross and 1 quarterhorse).


I'd like more frenchies because they are awesome! I'd also like a pure friesian, a belgian and a medicine hat paint. Finally, I must have a couple of miniature horses and some pygmy goats. 🙂

My family has always had at least one cat growing up; I think the total we've had total is five. All from shelters or some other less-than-ideal circumstances (neighbors moved to retirement home, found living in our compost pile in winter, abandoned in woods).

Currently, I have a rabbit I'm long-term pet-sitting for. First time I've ever had a rabbit and he is just so much fun! So much personality and so darn adorable! Going to be hard to have to return him home.

At some point, when I'm living somewhere where it's possible, I am getting a dog. Non-negotiable. Would love a basset hound or bulldog, but really, if it's cute and healthy, I don't care that much. Also want what I call a "paperweight cat:" an old cat who is happy to just sit and cuddle all the time.

I'm currently working at the local shelter for the summer. During my first week I brought a cat home and during my first month I brought a dog home, haha.

I just sold my horse a year ago, had him for 6 years.

Once I'm done studying I am definitely getting at least one horse. Possibly two, probably 3 haha.
I will always have at least one dog and one cat at my house. Most likely rescues, but I would really like to get a papered Rottie to show, some day. 🙂

Currently have five cats and three chihuahuas. Sister has a guinea pig and a fish if that counts, and I'm keeping a bunny for a few days, until I return it to the wildlife rehab I volunteer for so it can find a new home.

What I want, once I get an apartment that allows bigger dogs, is a medium-large sized dog. Don't really care what breed, I just want a dog that I can outrun and that is larger than my shoe. Chihuahuas bark too much. :/

Also, I kind of want a porcupine, but they're illegal in California. Has anyone ever owned one?

I have an amazing mini Poodle and a Holsteiner (horse). I will always have Poodles because I adore their dispositions and they are just perfect dogs for me on a lot of levels. I really enjoy the lapdog mini size but I think it would be great to have a standard Poodle to play with, too 🙂 Similarly, I hope to always be able to have horses! I'm fond of warmbloods due to my Hunter/Jumper background but I think it would also be fun to have a QH or the like to trail ride and/or be a "husband horse" (assuming that I can find a man, let alone a man that will ride with me! haha).

A couple of ferrets (silvers are my favorite, but I have a soft spot for sables)
And if I dream big enough/have free time, I'd love a hawk or a domesticated fox.

And, of course, whatever shelter animals I fall in love with along the way!

So, in conclusion, I'd love a small zoo.

My nieces named my chickens, but they outgrew their personalities and, quite frankly, I forgot their names. haha.

I have a silky roo, two bantam cochin hens, a bantam roo and a bantam cochin roo. Much to my chagrin, they all decided to be boys but two. So much for my egg harvesting ideas.

I love chickens.. and for a future farm, definitely chickens, cattle, a couple of goats and a horse.. all of my canines will be shelter dogs. I've never had much of an inclination toward owning purebreeds, but there are certainly some that are absolutely fascinating.

I have a cat, a kitten, a Labrador retriever, and a horse.

I'm a little worried about what I'm going to do with the high-maintenence pets while in vet school. I'm hoping to be able to lease my horse out, or possibly sell her, as I doubt I'll have time to ride. My dog isn't going to be very happy either, since he has separation anxiety and hates to be left all day. Worst case scenario, he goes home to live with my parents, but I'm hoping I can find good roommates or neighbors to help out with him.

I have a Bengal cat named Yeti. I don't think I'll ever get any other type of cat again. He is amazing.

I love my 2 DSH cats too (Ridley & Nyx) don't get me wrong, but there really is a noticeable difference between them and my Bengal with regards to temperament, behavior and trainability.

My SO moved in with me along with his Jack Russell Terrier but I do not consider her to be my pet. Terriers are not my thing. 😉

I do plan to get some kind of athletic, trainable dog to do dog sports with though, once I have the time.

I only have 3 dogs:

Isis: 8 y/o Mini Pin
Bella: 2 y/o Vizsla
Spartacus: 3 mo. puppy Vizsla (had him since birth - Bella is his mom)

No plans for future animals. No space or time to take care of them. Definitely no cats - kids are allergic.

My parents have 3 horses, a donkey, a dozen goats, 4 sheep, 2 alpaca, chickens, 4 dogs, and a ba-zillion barn cats, so if I'm feeling animal deprived, I just go visit them!

I've got one dog ('Apollo')- a 7 yr old, red fawn, retired racing greyhound whom I adopted from the Caliente track in TJ, Mexico. He was a big winner- raced until he was 5, sired several litters, and blew out his ACL. That ended his racing career. He's now enjoying retirement curled up on my couch 🙂 Still has a limp every now and again. He's also battling chronic renal failure, but is doing remarkably well.

I've also got a whole slew of fish. I love fish, and have had at least one aquarium in every home I've owned pretty much since I was born. Currently, I've got 3 separate tanks- one freshwater tropical, one goldfish, and a solitary male betta.

My roommate has a crested gecko named 'Gary' after Spongebob Squarepants fame. I can't technically claim him as mine, but I'm currently looking after him on her behalf. I definitely count him as part of my peaceable kingdom.

In the past, I've owned a golden-retriever mix, purebred collie, green iguana (he was a five foot long adult when he crossed the rainbow bridge), guinea pigs, hamsters, green anoles....you name it, I've probably owned it. The one species Mom prohibited while I was growing up was snakes. No matter, I got to experience them on my own much later in life 🙂

Past: 1 horse, who we sold when I went to college, but he's still at the same barn so I can go visit when I go home!!

Present: 1 adorable toy poodle who lives with my parents when I'm at school and sleeps in my bed otherwise (and tends to attack people who wake me up)

Future: Buy my horse back, possibly get a large pony (I'm really short) to use for casual jumping and trail riding and popping over logs and stuff, get an assortment of shelter dogs and shelter cats, GET A SNAKE GET A SNAKE GET A SNAKE I've wanted a snake for years now but my mom is too grossed out and my college doesn't allow pets in the dorms.

LOVE this thread!

We have Scout the Golden Retriever.Got him from a homeless man when he was just a baby. He was emaciated, and had an array for intestinal parasites. Now he's our perfect boy! Loves to swim, and goes with me almost everywhere!

Bonsai the cat. Brought into our clinic really sick at a few weeks old with her two brothers. She is a feisty thing! Loves to play! Stalks birds!

Wasabi the cat. Brother to Bonsai. Hater of dogs. Lazy. Fat. Sweet as pie!

We also have two guppies, a fiddler crab named "Ninja", and we're fostering a 5 month old lab/border collie mix we named "Pickett" that got hit by a car, and the owners just left him. Broken back, broken knee, huge hernia. Our doctor did all of his surgery for free-- now just waiting for some good x-rays and he's off to a new home!

Future-- I want goats, and pigs. A Parrot. Maybe a horse. Definitely would like some reptiles, too!

I adopted a 17 year old calico from my dad's girlfriend because she wasn't taking it to the vet. Ends up she had outrageous Thyroid values that I'm trying to get under control!

My mom has all the pets I grew up with... a pit bull mix, a chihuahua, three cats, and a rat. They are all friends=)
