I am currently doing an osteopathic TRI, and I'm applying to anesthesia this year, but I was wondering how to apply for a position that would start next year as a CA-1, meaning I would NOT have to repeat intern year? This is called a R0 position, correct?

Besides looking for open PGY-2 positions all year long, do you have any other advice?

That is correct, if you want to start your CA1 year in 2014, you are looking for a R(esidents only)-position, unlike sombody who looks for a CA1 position for 2015 (i.e. this years seniors), these are the A(dvanced)-spots.

Is this doable? Is the only way to get a spot through ERAS?
