Is there anyone out there with experience transferring between programs?
Let's say I know this dude or girl who has an opportunity to transfer from a program he or she finds mediocre to one that is definitely more attractive. Is there any down-side outside of the condemnation of the scorned program director? Is there an "odd man out" mentality? What if this guy or girl wants to do a fellowship and will be possibly thrown off of graduation track? Do fellowship programs accomodate people with late graduations? Is it a permanent "red circle" on CV/job app to see someone has transferred institutions?
