If memory serves, I thought I SLU was advertising for a PGY-2 and/or -3, not too long ago. But, I'm not sure about the academics, fellowship opportunities there these days.
SLU definately has spots but be slightly beware. In the past, people have gone onto great fellowships---dermpath, hemepath and surg path at Barnes. SLU has a dermpath fellowship in the derm department and the last 2 fellows are path trained from SLU. Next year its a gal from outside. GI fellowship is being set up at SLU and Dr. Brunt (liver guru) and Dr. Pai have a GI fellowship at Barnes which is sure to become a hit.
There are research opportunities for sure.
The beware warning has to do with some faculty volatility recently and some personality issues within the program. But I guess that can be anywhere.
