ph2cl what is the molecular geometry?

The reason why I posted easy question was kaplan wording confused me.

I thought molecular geometry would be tetrahedral while shape would be trigonal pyramid.

The question was what is the molecular geometry of ph2cl.

h is hydrogen .

Ph2Cl is i believe diphenylChloride. The geometry is then going to be planar bent i think because the Cl will have two lone pairs plus the 2 phenyl groups which makes it bent. I am not sure if this is the question or if my answer is correct. Very wierd question, ive never seen something like it.

If question ask the molecular geometry, isn't that tetrahedral, octahedral something like that? The answer was trigonal pyramid. I don't know why they give answer as shape even though they ask molecular geometry to us.

Is real dat similar to have this silly wording? or more clear?
 
Was the question supposed to read PH2Cl which would mean a phosphorous, 2 hydrogen and a chlorine. When you write it lowercase like that ph means a phenyl group. Ugh careful when using the letters. You posted a different question than what you were trying to ask.

well it is a trigonal pyramidal (3 bonds, 1 lone pair), but thats also tetrahedral (4 domains). Did the question have both as choices?
