Phaco Practice Eyes

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'd just stick with pig eyes. They're usually free, and nothing (not even a "practice eye") is like the real thing.

We have some that look similar to those (don't know what brand) and I agree with Visionary, they suck for phaco, even though they say they are phaco eyes. What they are good for though is when you are beginning just getting used to looking and adjusting the scope, pretty decent for suturing and making the cataract incisions. I also thought starting the rhexis with a cystitome was okay, trying to complete it with utratas wasn't that bad but not that good either.

The best approach is on people. Pigs are not like the real thing, and the artificial eyes are pretty much worthless on my experience. Besides, you're med student. It'll come in time.

If you are a med student you will be much better served by learning how to do sutures and then suturing under a microscope if you have access.
