Hi, I've been looking at the school database for pharm school tuitions. I noticed that UCSD has instate tuition at $7000 vs. UCSF at about $22000. Is there a mistake here? If not, what accounts for such big differences in tuition when these are both UC public schools?
I am thinking of applying to UCSF, UCSD, UOP, and USN. Considering that UCSF ($22000) and UCSD ($7000) have 4 year PharmD vs. UOP ($43000) and USN ($32000) 3 year programs, which schools do you think are more beneficial financially and educationally? Financially, I think the three-year schools are better because the opportunity cost of staying another year outweighs the lower cost of the 4year schools. But does anyone know about which schools offer more financial aid and grants/scholarships? I am also looking to hear your opinions on the educational benefits and the overall benefits. Thanks.

Please reply. I hope to hear your opinions. Thanks.

UCSD "tuition" is about 8k but then they add 10k in "professional fees". UCSF combines tuition and fees in their figure.

Personally I'd rather go 4 year because I'd like to have the summers to recover (and work).

The UOP financial aid info I looked at said you're pretty much screwed until year 3 in terms of financial aid. I stopped reading at that point, you'd have to look into it for more details.

i went to UOP open house, they made the claim that you spend less at UOP b/c you only go to school for 3 years, and let's say that 4th year, you work and make 90K or so, you're paying less overall compared to a 4 year program.

just something to think about

my spring quarter tuition at ucsd was $6332.50. times 3 quarters roughly comes out to $20k as an estimate just for tuition.

The University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is very affordable.
