just curious- Currently my school is doing interviews for the next class (yeah- people are still wanting to go into this for some bizarre reason). The year I applied to my school there were about 1100 applicants and now this year there are only 300. Anyone else see any trends similar to this?

my school dropped from 2100 in 2009 to 1900 in 2010 and i'm not sure about this year yet.

This is an interesting point that people have brought up before, and one that I've heard more than one administrator say will cause some of these new schools to close. Once word finally gets out about the job market to people outside of the pharmacy world (which there seems to be a lag time of several years), I'm sure application numbers will drop pretty significantly. Whether it will be to the point where classes can't fill their seats, I'm not sure.

If anything, I think this could push a tier system to develop more concretely. If a school is taking literally every applicant they get, it may be reasonable to assume that the school that still has 10 applicants for every seat is probably going to be churning out better pharmacists.

The less the merrier...

well the job market is alrdy almost saturated if not alrdy there.
