Ok so I was wondering about something. Let's take first aid K channel blockers for antiarrthmias. First aid lists 5: sotalol, ibutilide, bretylium, defetilide, and amiodarone.

However, i crossed reference it with kaplan, and they only list 2, sotalol and amiodarone. Could I just memorize these 2 drugs and drop the other 3?

I feel like if its in both review books, it must be important but if its only in 1, could i fairly say that it's unimportant?

i hate pharm!

I feel like patients should just come in with a sticky note on their foreheads with what drugs they need! hehe

btw has anyone used PreTest for Pharm?

I was doing a few questions and quiet a few of the drugs they ask about in the book arent mentioned in Kaplan or FA.

Should I even bother worrying about whats in pretest?

Simmons (Illustrated Review) only mentions sotalol and amiodarone. The others appear to be less safe.

ibutelide is IV only and has high risk of arrhythmia lol (its a pro-arrythmic antiarrythmic)

Dofetilide is similar to ibutelide but is shorter half life.

Amiodarone and Sotalol are the two used for long term treatment.

Study in layers, now most important first, then add in the details. If they are in first aid I would know them. You never know where the examiners find their questions.
