Today my wife signed with Wags, the starting pay is 55.00hr and suppose to go up next month. With a 30k sign on bonus. Just wanted to give people real life numbers. We live in Memphis, TN also.

Dude Is that really true. I am in Jackson, TN market part of memphis district. 30K bonus seems too much for memphis market.

Yes, this is what the offer was, and that is what she accepted.

Damn, I knew my wife should have been a pharmacist. Can't beat an extra $110k in income while you're in school. We could pay for my tuition with that ****!

4.0 = $64.35/hr
3.75 = $59.88/hr
3.5 = $54.73/hr
3.25 = $50.74/hr

Below 3.0... we don't hire them.
Somehow we were told that it doesn't matter as long as we are licensed....I graduated couple years ago:luck:

wow. In for this.

Just spent 1.5 hours online looking at real estate in Tyler Texas...You can get like 2700 sq ft new construction on a lake for ~$200k

Not a bad way to live for a few years while you kill your loans

dang, you people are dumb..:meanie:

Great...except you have to live in Tyler. They have a hard time getting pharmacists over there...try Longview as well.

Dude...twins are cute! 👍

Actually, too cute to be yours...

Don't scar them for life by taking them to Kansas...

Just think when they grow up... someone asks "So where did you grow up?" Twins will whisper.. "Kansas....but I wasn't born there thank god."

They should be saying...."I grew up in Texas..now back off..."

To the OP: havent you heard? there are no more retail jobs anymore. What aznfarmerboi and qwead have told us was that there were just too many new schools, and of course, "power". Better luck next career.:xf:

Do not misquote me. Whether you care or not, you should always be polite enough to listen to somebody who has more experience than you. I am sure as time passes, you will be preaching the same things that ALL other pharmacists here are saying. But then again, your posts are full of denial and naiveness.

I said that there was no shortage. The trend is that there will a surplus in the future. Find me a previous post where I said there was no job?

👍👍

How about people like me who are still in H. school? will everything be good by the time I graduate?

That Epic guy is a jerk!

When considering the growth of other health care professions, 22% is comparatively small. Physician demand increase will likely outpace 22%

Also, that article is misleading. It makes it seem like it's common or simplistic to earn a PharmD online. This is generally untrue, there are very few online programs.

agreed. most people i've talked to outside of pharmacy don't know what kind of training it takes to be a pharmacist. this article could add to that by making some believe that pharmacists got their degrees easily and/or online

I read that article and I was thinking to myself, "Oh great, here comes the recently unemployed crowd running to become pharmacists." I know one person, who knows very little about the profession, who's going into pharmacy solely for the money so what's another 10,000?

Part of me wants to agree with this.

Then I realize I'm one of those people. :lame:

There is only one online program - Creighton

I can guarantee that the people who jump on board because of articles like this will fail out when they meet Organic Chem.

Hah Hah! I so agree.

Yeah, I saw that last article last night. My first thought was: "Get your information right Yahoo, you just lied to millions of Americans." Online? Pft. If Organic Chem doesn't stop them Physics will!

They also say that the 2 years + 4 years is "standard". It should more like be "minimum" since only the best of the best get in with just the prereqs.

Agreed. Yahoo has a problem with getting information right most of the time. Some of their articles give misleading information. Every time I read them, I take it with a grain of salt. But, I think people are just uninformed to begin with, and then we wonder why students are not aware of information pertaining to Pharmacy school. While in Chicago for a pharmacy school interview for CSU I came across this video on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-_FfaJnq-A ................. FAIL!

I noticed a pretty big error in the high school principal article as well. They make it sound like an easy gig with a high salary and summers off. They don't get summers off. I think they get maybe two weeks though that probably depends on the state. And that job has headaches like you wouldn't believe. You couldn't pay me enough to take all that on.
