hi everyone,

I am gonna start pharmacy school this August and I already started dreaming about the salery of a pharmacist..😀..

Just Curious to know how much does a pharmacist make per year at Pfizer...

If you're willing to work at Pfizer's Anchorage branch, you can probably clear $750,000 a year as an entry-level PharmD with no extra training. Two years of fellowship would bump that up to the 7-figure range.

you're gonna be miserable because you're getting into it for the wrong reasons

gonna? going to

I hope when you get your pharmd you'll use spelling/grammar check.

Well since we're gonna be grammar Nazi's it's actually Pharm.D.

And this is an internet forum, we're not here to write perfect English in the attempt to win a Pulitzer Prize. I was merely shooting off a quick reply, but I'll be sure from now on to consult others and do several revisions to every post I make.

Holy cow at first I thought this was a misprint but it's still really hard to believe. I know the mythical Alaska retail salaries might reach a quarter of that but $750,000/year entry level seems pretty excessive.

I don't know about Pharm.D's, but a Senior Research scientist at Merck with an M.D. working at Merck for 9 years brings home ~$100,000. Another M.D. at Roche, ~$105,000. I'd estimate that Pharm.D salaries are similar

Nothing wrong with dreaming about your future lifestyle OP. Best of luck

Let's be honest now, most people would not pursue this career if it didn't pay well. Who likes sitting around dispensing pills all day? Most people here would be doing something else with there lives if every job paid the same.

There, fixed.

OP: I heard of this new thing that lets you search anywhere in the world. It's really good for stuff like this. I think it's called Google.

I would do this job if it paid 40k a year. Choosing a profession should never be mainly about the money, you'll wind up miserable at the end of the day.

Well you should be miserable but sometimes you can hate aspects of your job. Like there are just somethings about retail and hospital that just irk me. But at the end of the day, i get to go home to a family and make money to support them.

Speak for yourself. I'm pursuing this career and it pays less than I am making right now. Add to that the fact that I am giving up income for 4 years, plus MUCH lower income for two years (hopefully with the residencies) AND the loans I'll be taking out...

But I'm choosing a profession that will satisfy me in ways other than monetarily.

I swear...some of you youngin's 😛

MD --> PharmD?

Does it scare anyone else that people with horrible grammar and spelling are allowed to enter pharmacy school? Not to mention those who would start a thread like this.

Lol, salery. Hybrid of celery and salary.

Nope. Good thing science tests aren't docked for spelling errors!!!

Not everybody is going to be counting pills all day....

yeah but resumes and cover letters are, and you can potentially kill someone if your spelling error involves a LASA drug.

Now the OP got me all excited about the Pharmacist Celery. Sounds sooo incredibly sinful.

agreed

I'd do it if it didn't pay "well" if there was a commensurate drop in how much it freakin' cost.

Would you do it for 30K a year if the tuition was free? I don't think I would. Not retail anyways. I don't think anyone can honestly say they will do retail for less than 100K a year.

If tuition was free it would still have to pay at least 70K a year for me to do it. LOL...

So let's define "well".

"well" is not McDonald's $15/hr.

A professional, "well paying" job, for me, is about $55,000 to $65,000 with good benefits and good chance for promotion/advacement. If Pharmacy School cost $9,000 a year, I'd be happy doing the job at $55,000 +/- a year.

Using $30,000 in this argument is a little spurious, because it is still a professional doctorate and a post-graduate education.

Fair enough, but I did mention that the tuition was FREE too. Passion is willing to do it for 55K a year that's impressive....but I am sure he doesn't mean retail though. :meanie: I'll do mail order for 55K a year if tuition was free.

Free @ 30k is still unreasonable given the opportunity cost involved in post-grad study and the possession of a doctorate and the life-threatening situations the Rph is responsible for.

Techs can make more then 30k a year with no schooling. Nobody in their right mind would do 6+years in school for less then what quite a few people with a GED could make. I agree with P4S with 55k+ being a good number. Many professional posistions pay around this, as long as their is room for growth.

By the time most of you graduate, there won't be any jobs left, anyway. Rather than dreaming about your salary, dream about paying back $200k in loans off of a per diem job supplemented by delivering pizzas.

😱😱😱😱

Thank god I will only be 80K in debt, but still that's a lot of money to pay back. 🙁

If it was: Pay back 200k debt and deliver pizzas with no other option, I'd just go back to the Army. Prior service, would get a commission easy out of OCS.

Thank god your not paying for dental school anymore. I saw that the CoA of USC dental was 100k a year:wtf:

Man, 55K is kinda low. I make 45K as a tech. It would have to be in the 70-80K range for me.

I thought techs only make like $15 dollars an hours! Walgreens only paid me $9.75 an hour and Target only paid me $10.25 an hour. 🙁

Lol don't tell my cpa brother-in-law. Hey, you also make more then me 🙁.

I know!!!! Dental tuition is even more crazy! I would be 300K in debt if I finished my dental degree. That would be suicide for me b/c I was in it to MAKE money NOT PAY MONEY!!!!!!

NYU, UoP and several other dental schools are at 100K a year too! CRAZY! I would take that money and buy a beach house instead! at least it would be enjoyable! LOL....If I had to pay more than 100K for pharmacy school I would NOT do pharmacy either. Again I am here to MAKE MONEY, I am not going to go to school to go BROKE afterwards.

$20 but when you add in all the OT, PTO, Holiday, it is significantly more at the end of the year 🙂 So, yeah, it averages out to be about 22 an hour over the course of a year

They started you out at 20 dollars an hour?????? Did you just start your job?
