Hello SDN! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm currently working as a pharmacist (graduated 2 years ago), looking to go into medicine. I was very immature in pharmacy school, and put in just enough effort to scrape by and graduate with my PharmD (I was president of Low Chi). However over the past 2 years, I've had a number of conversations/experiences/musings that formed my desire to become a physician, and I've never felt so convicted/motivated.

I've heard stories of pharmacists going to med school straight out of pharmacy school, but I haven't heard of anyone working in a retail setting for a few years and then applying for med school. In this case, would I have to apply for post bacc programs that are considered career changers, or academic enhancers, or am I limited to SMPs? Any and all advice/insight is much appreciated.

Okay, THAT is funny.

Anyway, I'm not a pharmacist , but a number of my friends are. I've gotten to see what their pre-req courses entailed and at what point that deviated from me as I prepared for med school. Because of this, I would think an SMP would be the best route. That way you can control exactly what you're doing and when. Despite barely passing pharm school it is evident that you can survive in academia to some extent, so I would focus on specifically the med school pre-reqs and killing the MCAT.

Again, certainly no expert here. Just going off what I've seen others do.
