I had Lor from a MD but school asks me another one from a pharmacist. Are both weight the same? I have never worked for any pharmacy stores, what should I do ? By the ways, I sent an email back and explained to school already.

Honestly I don't know any schools that will take a recommendation from a MD. And I highly doubt schools would take it in replace of a Pharmacist. Because MDs don't really see you in a Pharmacy setting. But the best thing to do, is wait for an email back, or I'd directly call the admissions office to clarify it.

Agreed. The purpose of the pharmacist LOR is to get an opinion about your ability to be a good pharmacist. An MD can't really do that as they don't know what the job entails. I ran into the same problem when I was applying, so I looked for schools that did not require a LOR from a pharmacist.

I can't speak for an adcom, but I will say that if it was my decision and a student had a letter from an MD and not a pharmacist, I would assume that the student was using pharmacy school as a backup and treat them as if that were true.

I agree.

Seriously? I asked a doctor to do a LOR for me because I've known him for a while. I have no intention to apply to med school and I never intended for him to write a med school recommendation and he knew that full well.

He was completely okay with it being a pharmacy recommendation and he even gave me advice for pharmacy school and where I should take my career from there. I consider his LOR as by potentially my best or second best LOR because of this.

Edit: I do have a pharmacist who is working with me to write a LOR but he definitely does not know me as well as the doctor. I'm expecting his LOR to basically just be stuff I've told him about myself and not much on how much he actually knows about me.

That's really hurt my chance now and I haven't heard anything back from school yet.

And from school's website "Is pharmacy-related experience required?
Not required but recommended" that's why I don't think an MD is different from a pharmacist's lors since they don't require experience.

an LOR from an MD is a red flag on your application. seriously, do you want the admission committee to think that you are applying to pharmacy schools as a backup?

I've never thought about it until I got feebacks from SDNers. Should I get another lor from any science professor?

You're getting replies from a small cross-section of the pre-pharmacy members of SDN. It's early Wednesday morning, why don't you call and ask instead of waiting on an email?

As you pointed out, pharmacy experience is not required. I would just make sure your LoR is tailor-made for Pharmacy School admissions, and not just a med school letter with the word "medical" lined out and "pharmacy" written over top. 😉

I think that's how the others are perceiving this.

I just called and here is the answer from the school "your application is under reviewed"......

I will update you guys if I hear more from school.

Oh really? because I got offered an interview at all 5 schools this past year and I had two MD LOR's. I guess I played that all wrong. I guess I'm good at getting by all these red flags you suggest.
