My friend was telling me at her store her coworker pharmacist has chronic pain and receives legitimate prescriptions for narcotic pain relievers for herself. Can the state board of pharmacy take action against her even if she does not take them on work days?

No a pharmacist should never take anything for pain no matter how severe the pain is.

Yes, pharmacists are never allowed to take pain medications. Even if prescribed by a provider for a legit medical purpose.

Really ??? I thought as long as you have a legitimate script you can take any freaking Med : narc or non narc !??

Read the federal law. Seriously. The ignorance on here is insane.
I have read the law. I never came across this particular legal restriction on meds that a pharmacist can or cannot take .
Please quote the "federal law" (if there is any😉 and enlighten us ignorant souls.

I think if a pharmacist is taking prescribed opioids primarily for emotional pain, that could be an issue.

I know atleast 2 rite aid pharmacists ,one practicing for may be over 30 years , on norco for chronic pain , for several years now!?

Already have back problems, if I end up in retail forever I will probably be on norco too. Standing for 10-12hrs straight does a number on your back.
