Hello all,

I'm about to graduate pharmacy school next year and am starting to apply for jobs. For those of you who work in retail pharmacy or know about retail pharmacy I was wondering if you could help me out? Does anyone know what type of shifts that pharmacists at major retails work. For example I know that Target pharmacists usually work 5 8 hour shift days. I think Walmart pharmacists work 4 10 hour days and CVS usually work 3 13 hour days. Does anyone know what type of shifts Walgreens, Rite Aid, K mart, Kroger, Giant Eagle, Meijer and other major retail pharmacists work? I'd appreciate the feedback.

some targets do 12 hr shifts, CVS, 14 Rite Aid: 14. it all depends on where you are.

Walgreens typically does 8 hour shifts, however if you work on Saturday most stores are open from 9-6. You can make it up later in the week and leave an hour early. Usually you will work every other weekend, but if you a become staff at a busy store, you may be able to work every 3rd or 4th weekend, depending on budget hours. If you have a cool partner, they also like to split shifts. For example one person will work 8-3 and the other will work 3-10. You sacrifice the overlap and some store managers see this as a no no.

Sam's Club is M-F 9-7, Sat 9-6 (close 1:30-2 for lunch), closed Sunday. Work 8 of those shifts in a 2-week pay period, so basically 8 10-hour days (technicaly seven 10-hour and one 9-hour, with the paid 30 min lunches).

Exactly. They dump the workload on the overnite guy and have the gall to come in late to relieve him. So it's ok if the day rphs only work 72-74 hours per pay period, but god forbid if the night guy gets relieved on time.
