So I'm a 2nd year going through Pharm and on the side I've decided to make an excel sheet w/ the drugs that are listed at the end of each chapter of Katzung and Trevor Exam and Board Review 9th ed. to study for Step 1. For those unfamiliar w/ the layout, there is a chart at the end of each chapter that lists the drug, the subclass, possible mechanism, pharmacologic effects, pharmacokinetics, toxicities and interactions, I've also included a mnemonics column but I digress. My question is, is this overkill for step 1 or is this adequate? Should I be studying all these drugs and all of the stuff listed before? Any input that would help me streamline this operation would be much appreciated.🙂

No. Pharm is easy on step 1 and step 2. All you need is uworld and First aid. Nothing more.

I do Katzung review to study for my class exams. We are usually assigned several pharm chapters and it's easy enough to just memorize everything. But long term I have retained very little. Especially when they empasize random drug toxicities... Maybe I'll look into FirstAid.

People, c'mon, for step 1, just know all the drugs at the end of the chapters, and write in the few new drugs that will be in UWorld. Trust me, this is all you need to know
