Who the hell came up with the idea of having the pharmacy counter on the same level as the floor? I'm rotating at a store right now where if you're a customer standing at the pick-up counter, you can see everything happening the in the pharmacy.

Tech - It's gonna be a 1 hour wait, we're backed up right now, there are about 20 customers ahead of you.
Customer - No you're not, there aren't any baskets on the production counter and your queue is clear.
Tech - Uhhh...

Seriously, I don't like how the customers can see everything you're doing. I liked the old design where the customer has to reach up to give the prescription to the drop off person.

What patients do you have at your pharmacy? WTF kind of customer knows that production isn't full and that you have a clear queue?

My patients don't even know what their copays are most of the time, or if they have the right insurance card...

Maybe one of those rare cases when you have a pharmacist picking up a prescription.

I love when I go to other pharmacies to pick up scripts and they tell me 20 mins and I can visually see that the rph has no baskets to check

The production and verification counter is in full view of the customer at the pick up counter. They can tell when people are bull****ting or just sitting around. This is at CVS and is one of the newer stores in Harlem. They do about 700-800 scripts/day on the weekdays here. Also, this particular CVS seems like it is exempt from the 15 minutes or less thing. Almost everyone gets at least a 1 hour wait.

8AM-9PM, Pharmacist 1 is from 8AM-7PM, Pharmacist 2 from 11AM-9PM, and then like 4 techs at peak hour, and me the unpaid intern. I handle all doctor calls, this allows one of the pharmacists to focus on verification while the other one does paperwork, counseling, rejections. I think if this was my store where I worked, instead of the store in Long Island where I actually did work, I would have enjoyed it more. At this store, all I do is doctor calls and assist drop off#1 when it gets swamped, and OTC + consultation when the patients ask. Other than that, I don't fix rejections, I don't pull medications, I don't do production, I don't do pick-up. Being the "super-tech", is what I hated the most about when I worked at CVS.

But yeah, I don't like the set up of the pharmacy. I like standing on a higher platform than the customer, gives you a feeling of authority.

Dude, that design is so old fashined. I didn´t think pharmacies like that were even still around.
 
Yeah, a few of them are still like that. It's better though.
I honestly think you are full of it- the new CVS designs don't fit the design you are talking about. and how can a customer know your Queue is empty? Are you monitors facing the customers? Also, if your customers knows your queue is empty then they could also see the name and drug of every prescription you are typing in which is a BIG TIME HIPPA VIOLATION!!! I tell you the LIES in this forum are so funny. Also, why is the tech lying to the customer anyways? This is the perfect example of how it;s employees and staff that makes a CVS a good store or bad store. Sparda even if it was an old design where you and the customer are at the same level- if you get off your lazy arse and do some work then the customer wouldn't question you. Do you have something to hide? Why would you care if the customer can see what you are doing? The Pharmacy has cameras correct so you are always being watched- here's my advice- stop making up lies because if the customer can see your Queue then you are violating HIPPA second stop complaining and do some work- Nuff Said!
 
Working in a fish bowl. I despise the fish bowl when I am working chain retail but absolutely loved it when I was working at an independent.

If retail was what I wanted to do, I would want to work at open design independent pharmacy.

How do they know the queues are empty? They don't see any baskets at all being checked or stacked up. If it was really backed up, I could just point to the stacks of baskets that have to be checked.

That's not what you said your words were the customer could see that the Queue was empty- the queue last time I checked is what you see on the screen? You didn't say the customer said there were no baskets. Also, you could have no baskets and 4 or 5 pages in the Queue correct? You could also have no baskets and 7 or 8 pages of Ready Fills in the Queue.
A customer would have no idea of how many "upcoming" prescriptions have to be filled so what you were saying was a complete falsehood. Also, does the customer know how many electronic prescriptions you have to fill in QR? I doubt very seriously if a store is doing 800 script a day like you stated that there was absolutely no pages in the Queue.
Next time Sparda think before you type and stop creating LIES in these forums because I will expose them and call you out on them- nuff said!
