Hello Everyone,

My name is Alice and I graduated from UCSF Pharmacy School 2 year ago. Every year I try and help pre pharmacy students improve their personal statements.

I am willing to read and critique the first 8 personal statements that are emailed to me

you can email it to [email protected]

Please do not send your personal statement as an attachment. Instead, copy and paste. I find that I have a hard time opening some files. Do not post your statement on SDN.

Also, it is easier for me to give you suggestions to what you should include if you can list the pharmacy schools you are applying to, since I am familiar with many of the programs. GPA and Pharmacy related internships are helpful to (please just list, no explanations).

I wish everyone the best of luck.

What was your Screen name before?

Also, can you provide suggestions on writing personal statements as a post? That would be really helpful to anyone who may still be working on their personal statement.

Did you guys put a title on your ps???

argon18,

I did not have a title for my PS. I think most people don't give their PS's a title as it's not really necessary but if you really wanted to title it, I don't see anything wrong with that either. Just make sure it's appropriate and actually gives something to your essay.

Thanks Kattster!!

Just to exercise some caution, be careful who you send your PS to. Not saying the OP isn't legit but only 1 post is a little fishy, and they just registered last month. It's best to use the people listed in the sticky above, who have attained some credibility about their pharmacy career advancement.

I was thinking about the same thing. I've been scared to let people proofread my PS because I invested insurmountable amount of work into it and if something happens it will take me weeks to write another one this good. I think all the proofreaders on the official proofreaders list are trustworthy and just generally are cool people from their posts. I'd send it to them if I needed it proofread, but I already had a few people do that for me. :luck:

No one proofread my personal statement last year, and yes, the OP is a little fishy.

My boyfriend has done it last year and so has an English tutor at a tutoring service at school. Both have not caught a small spelling error that one of the admissions people caught right away and pointed out to me. 🙁

That's why this year, I was very serious about having it proofread by many people. I didn't necessarily listned to everyone's comments though. :luck:

Hi Alice,

I am sitting down at my computer and I know what I want to say in the personal statement to some degree but I am having difficulty on how to start. My statement must be 500 words or less. Do you have any statements that I can look at to get me started?

Hi Alice,
Would you mind reading my personal statement? Totally rip it to shreds if you need to because I definitely welcome the feedback!
