Hello everyone,

I have completed my Bachelor of pharmacy (4 years course) from india (2005 to 2009).
And currently i am in canada and in next year i am moving to USA on green card. And i have completed my degree evaluation of PEBC in canada but didn't applied for exams as i am moving to USA next year.

I want to apply for lisence exam in Usa. Is there any way that i can apply for my lisence exam with my 4 years of pharmacy course or is there any other 1 year course in canada so i can get qualified to appear for lisence pharmacy program in usa?

Wow I had no idea. That seems crazy to me. I used to work with a few foreign ex-pharmacists that were working as techs. Always assumed it was because they couldn’t get licensed here.

What Zelman said, basically a foreign school has to have the equivalent of the old 5-yr BS in Pharmacy degree (or the equivalent of the 6-yr Pharm D degree.) A 4-yr degree is not transferable to the US.

And to answer the OP's question, there is no 1 yr add on program that can magically make your 4-yr degree equivalent to a 5-yr degree.

Unfortunately for you, your only options to become licensed in the US, would be enrolling in a 4-yr Pharm D program (your 4 yr degree should have all the prerequisites required....although whether or not any Pharm D program will accept them, is up to that program. Depending on what Pharm D program you look at, you possibly may have to repeat prerequisite classes.)

There are virtually no jobs in the US, please stay in Canada for your own sanity. You went there to save money on a pharmD and now you will pay the expensive price of being cheap by having to work in Canada for peanuts.

this is not true. pharmacists come here from other countries take the FPGEC, get intern hours, then take the naplex and mpje. call your state board and ask them what is required of you. it can vary from 1500 hours to 2000? i am not sure about the exact hours. Those are just the standard intern hour requirements for those who passed FPGEE. To qualify to take that exam, for a post 2003 graduate, a five year degree is required. Yes, this person has to return to school to qualify. The degree is not considered to be equivalent.

The qualifications to take FPGEE are determined by the NABP. They clearly say for a post 2003 grad, a 5 year degree is required. The intern hour requirements are for those who have already passed FPGEE. No state board will license you without the FPGEC. Since you have a non-equivalent degree, you cannot get the FPGEC.
