How many hours/day and days/week is the average pre pharmacy and pharmacy school program?

Just go to the website of the schools you are interested in and look at the curriculum for each semester/term to see how many hours you would need to take.

Prepharm is what you make of it. You could cram all the classes into a year or two (probably 2 is more realistic as some prereqs are in themselves prereqs to other classes that are pharm prereqs), or you could spread it out over several years by only taking one or two prereq classes a semester.

For pre-pharm, you'll probably keep about 15 credit hours per semester. You'll spend approximately one hour in class for every unit, but labs are longer for less credit. The official university policy is spending three hours of homework for every unit, but it can be more or less depending on the class and your study needs. I spend five days a week taking classes. In my experience, it's hard to schedule classes so you get days off, but it is possible.

The work load varies per school. Overall, most schools have a 16-19 credit hour course load.

I forget which schools have this, but there are schools that meet only four days a week. Most schools have the same-old five day-a-week schedule

For hours per day, that once again depends. For my school, I'll be in classes from 9 to 3 with an hour-long lunch break and some breaks in between.

As for pre-pharmacy, most students find that they need to take 15 credits a semester in order to have all the prereqs done by the end of the second year in college. Since college course are more flexible than pharmacy schools, you can create longer breaks in between classes whereas its more compacted in pharmacy school.

classes from 9am-noon, then lunch, then 2hr lab either 1-3 or 3-5

Tuesday
exam period from 8-10, classes from 10-2, lunch, class from 3:30-5:30

Wednesday
class from 9-noon, rest of afternoon reserved for pharmacy practice experience

Thursday
class from 9-noon, lunch, class 3:30-5:30

Friday
exam period from 8-10, class from 10-12, rest of afternoon reserved for pharmacy practice experience


not bad really. Hate that the exams are so early in the morning though.. my brain doesn't really work before noon

I hear you about early exams, but from the first class experience, it will be better than trying to sit through three classes and then take an exam. This way you get the exam out of the way and focus on lectures the rest of the day. Good Luck, hope to see you soon!
