How long do they take? Do they take up all 4 years of college? I'm thinking about going to grand valley state university and going to ferris state university for pharmacy school.

Tips or strong words are very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

They can be completed in 4 years. It helps a lot if you're in some way shape or form a life science or chemistry major because the classes overlap with pharmacy school requirements.

However, just because you fulfill the pre-reqs at school X doesn't mean you fulfill the pre-reqs at school Y. You will have to look into the schools you plan on applying to, find what is different between the pre-reqs, and make sure you can take those classes to satisfy the requirements along with graduating on time.

Check the site below for more information on the schools you plan on applying to.

So if I don't get into school X, do I have to start all over for school Y? That part scares me. 🙁

No. Most pharmacy schools have quite a bit of overlap between their prerequisites, so if you do school X's prerequisites, chances are you'll have quite a bit done for school Y. To give an example of what we mean, schools X and Y may have almost all of the same prereqs, but school Y might require, say, microbiology or something, while school X didn't. So you'd have to sneak in a microbio course if you wanted to apply to school Y too. Those are the things you have to check.

Do i have to complete 4 hours of prerequisites? I heard people applying in their 2nd or 3rd year. How does that work? How do you complete your prereqs in 2 years and apply to a pharmacy school?

Look up schools in which you're interested and find out what they require for incoming students. Typically, the coursework can be completed in 2 years, if you attend full time and during the summer. I know locally, schools have been adding more coursework, so now it's 2.5+ years.
