If you are going to choose a school based on the rankings, don't. Rankings do not mean anything.

Ranking matters only when you be accepted by more than one pharmacy school and you want to choice the best one. then go to the ranking!

Pharm. schools are ranked based on research money and grants. It doesn't reflect studies quality at all. So if you go by rankings, you are just gonna choose a school with better research funding.
My advice - choose a public school. they are way cheaper.

Bah. I disagree.

I got into 4 schools, all of which are on this list (3 in the top 20). Went to the highst ranked one, UNC (not for that reason, only based my final decision on location).

Use the interview to get your impression of the school. Impressions mean a lot. I would have chosen a different school than the "higher ranked" one I'm at now if I could have. School location trumped my true preference for family reasons. It turns out that my impressions of the interview were very valid. Some of the things I didn't like at the interveiw have manifested themselves big time now that I am a student. My piont is that the impression you get from visiting the schools is important. Don't ignore it. It's more important than ranking.

Also know what environment you prefer. Large research universities tend to be at the top of the rankings, and that environment has a LOT of disadvantages for students as well as advantages. Depends on what is important to you.

Rankings are BS. Think about it, UCSD is on that list and it's not EVEN accredited yet! There are numerous programs who have been around longer and have been more established (i.e. Midwestern) but who do not do ANY research who were left out.

Actually, if you ask me, I'd prefer a school that does MINIMAL research. Why you ask? Because research = YOUR PROFESSORS spending 90% of their time in the lab and 10% in the classroom. This equals less time outside the classroom for help, less time to answer your emails, etc.

But if you want research opportunities for your future goals in pharmacy, use this list. UCSF is KNOWN to be a research school and its graduates take advantage of their resources. Other than that, the #'s don't mean a damn thing! 😀

I thought midwestern was left out because it didn't participate in the rankings.. but yeah I agree.. rankings don't mean that much, unless maybe you want to do residency? I'm not sure.

Schools have the option to participate in the rankings or not. Much of the rankings are based on grant money the school gets. Midwestern and many other private schools choose not to participate in the rankings for that reason.

There are plenty of opportunities for students to participate in research projects with faculty members on this campus. To say that MWU does not participate in any research is a lie. It may not be common as other schools, but the opportunity is there for students who choose to do so.
