Pharmacy School Scholarships

It may vary by school. In my limited experience you can apply for scholarships, but there aren't alot to go around. Loans should take care of what you need. And, you can pay them back easily enough once you start working.
I was awarded a $2,000 scholarship by Creighton and I didn't have to do a darn thing. Sure, $2,000 is a drop in the bucket figuratively, but I'll take it!😀
There's the Tylenol Scholarship out there if you are interested.
As for the average amount of loans you owe, just estimate all of your tuition costs using numbers from school websites and AACP. Subtract the amount you might make through internships and you should have a rough idea about your indebtness after pharmacy school. If you are going to an out-of-state school and/or private school, then prepare yourself for the possible six-figure debt.😉

University of Minnesota offers some good scholarships for qualified students:

Tylenol seems like a hard scholarship to get. Anyone on here ever get one from them? The application was quite a bit of work as well.
LIU gives good scholarships. My friend got 10,000. I got 8000 (But they took one away) so I have 5000 per year now.

Look up the McKesson pharmacy scholarship. It's $1k for every year that you get it. Not much but still something. You have to work for a pharmacy that is serviced by McKesson though (Rite Aid, Target, many hospitals, etc...).

UTexas COP just started a new scholarship for P1's based on an admission ranking system they use to determine waitlist etc.. Not sure how many in our class received it, but I would guess around 20 or so. Just a one time $1,500.00. There is one more the college offers P1's that you must apply for and they only choose one recipient. It is $1,500.00 a year for four years.
I hear that if you were in a pre pharm till graduation in LIU, if you have a 4.0 you get your tuition waive for the whole year if you have a 4.0 straight... my friend who has a 3.9 has $10,000 in scholarships in p3 (pprofessional phase 1). Cvs, rite aid, daune reade, and walgreens donated a lot to our school.Mercer gave me $6000 P1 year, $7000 P2 year and $5000 P3 year. I lost my 4.0GPA so I got less my P3 year. 🙁
Medco/AACP has a $10,000 scholarship every year (multiple winners). the deadline just passed though

Maybe I should have gone there!!! If I had a 4.0 all through pharmacy school I could have gotten P1-6000, P2-7000, P3-7000 and P4-7000 at MOST. But since I lost my 4.0 I can only get 5000 P3 and 5000 P4 year (I lost $4000 b/c I lost my 4.0). Your grades will start to suck once you start therapeutics. 🙄

That is only for dual degree students.
