As I see, a lot of pre-pharmacy students are working as pharmacy technicians. Did you actually get a pharm tech diploma for that king of job? And did you take required classes parallel with your pharm school prerequisites?

Thank you

I started working at CVS my senior year of high school just in the store. There were 2 spots that opened up in pharmacy & I was pre-med at the time, so I got asked if I wanted a position. I definitely lucked into it! Didn't have to do anything other than the CVS pharm tech training. I transferred to one on my college campus & there's a ton of students that work there as well and none of them took a pharm tech course.

I think it depends on your state. I live in SC and just about every pharmacy requires you to be licensed through the state which requires passing the PTCB exam. I studied for less than a week, took the exam and got an 833 out of 900 (its not very difficult). If anything it will increase your chances of getting hired and also be an added benefit to your pharm school app.

Some can manage working and taking pre reqs at the same time. Others prefer to focus only on pre reqs and not work, or wait until the pre reqs are done to start working.

Don't waste the money on a pharm tech class unless a) your state absolutely requires it (FL maybe?) or b) you really can't self-study the stuff (but you're a pre-pharm so I really doubt it). Pharm tech training is like technical school - none of it will "transfer" or work as a pharmacy prereq.
