Does anyone whose taken the pharm tech exam recently have any advice on what/how to study? Is it necessary to memorize the top 200 drugs?

Thanks in advance!

Study mosby. Don't need to know drugs. Just know calculations and law

Review how to set up a proportion and find values and the pharmacy calculations that are associated with them (e.g. allegations, flow rates) If you don't want to look stupid at your first job I would advise to at least look over the top 200 drugs and know what the possible uses are for them. As its not really necessary to know all 200, I did have 4 on mine in 2009, and my wife had 2 on hers this past January. Know what laws, how to assist pharmacist and possibly some hospital questions about crash carts. Just look on ptcb if you way more details.

Not really. As previously said, focus on calculations and laws. If you have time though, try familiarizing yourself with at least the schedule II medications (brand-generic).

Know basic algebra using ratios, general conversions, and do a brief overview of the top 200 drugs (brand and generic), and laws. If you know just the HIPAA law, you will be fine!! I only studied for two days and took the test and passed. I feel they made the test too easy. (I probably felt this way because I took it after taking my PCAT). Don't stress yourself. When you walk out of that testing center and see your score.. you'll know what I'm talking about. =)) Good luck!!
