Has anyone every pursued this joint PharmD./MBA degree option?
In my attempt to set myself apart from the rest, I'm thinking of doing it, but I'm not really sure whether or not it's worth the extra money and effort. I'm interested in either business-admin. type pharmacy or clinical/research-oriented pharmacy so it's a toss up for me.

Do you think that an MBA just 'looks' good on a resume' or does have practical value in the sense that it actually equips you with the tools to do the entrepreneur kind of thing?

university of maryland at baltimore does

so does USC and maybe UOP too

An MBA is always a nice thing to have, although it's really of little use/importance in the retail setting itself. Most anything you need to know can be learned quickly on the job. It is however a good idea for those of you who may want to do more than become a pharmacist...such as a regional manager/director. Although, those COP that offer the BSPS degree are trying to convince corperations that that is a waste of a good pharmacist as well as putting someone with little/no business experience in a business setting. I would tend to agree with this idea.

uic also started it starting with class of 200 (ie those entering in fall 2004). (check it out at www.uic.edu/pharmacy)

the MBA component however requires a bachelors degree (in anything) so if u r considering it, keep in mind that 2 yrs of pre reqs may be enough for the pharmD but not for the pharmD/MBA

(at uic that is)
