Hi, I'm from Canada and whenever I go to a website for a school in the USA, all I see are PharmD programs,is there just a normal Pharmacy program?
Up here in Canada, all we need is a pharmacy degree to get a decent job.. ( 4 year degree ), the Pharm D is an extra 2 year degree but.. what does it help you do ( career wise )?

I've heard from a few friends that Pharmacists and PharmD's get around the same pay here, but what about in the states? Are the majority of pharmacists out there PharmD's?

Thanks

They have phased out the regular BS degree across the board. So all that will be left are PharmD's.

They grandfather the BS in Pharmacy...

B.S. Pharmacy degree holders are "grandfathered" to PharmD in only a few states (if any ). Some states use a separate designation such as P.D. However, if you mean grandfathered in the sense of still being allowed to practice pharmacy across the nation , then you are correct.

Tennesee calls their grandfathered BSs, DPhs

as long as you pass the board exam in a particular state, u should be able to work at retail. if you wanna work at hospital setting, pharmd is the way to go since most of them demand a doctor degree.

Thank you. I knew one of the states was Tenn and couldn't remember exactly what the designation was.

BTw, noticed you're in Alabama. I'm guessing you might be one of the many Tennesseans who go to Pharm school at Samford. Anyway, I went to pharmacy school at Auburn before medical school.
