Never fails.. there are always posts about PharmD/MD, PharmD/DDS, PharmD/JD etc..... it's almost as predictable as a dialogue about retail pharmacy..

But I don't see too many posts about PharmD/MHA (Masters in Healthcare Administration). MHA does narrow your scope down to healthcare setting rather than MBA which may broaden your possibilities..

But if you're ambition is to be a CEO of a hospital, you'll need MHA..

I think it's a great option for some of you young ambitious pharmacy students..

Hospital CEO job is cushy.. pays well, and you'll never ever have to work weekends..

If you like management and the business side of healthcare, then it would probably be a great option. I think it would eventually cause you to lose touch with the pharmacy world, but if you're ok with that then go for it.

I disagree a little bit. my stepdad is a RN with a MHA and is now the CEO of a small hospital. his staff LOVES him because he worked on the floor for 20+ years and will do anything and everything he can to keep staffing reasonable.

I'm not sure how much if any input he has as far as formulary stuff but I can always ask.
