Hey guys,

I have been doing some thinking and I think I might want to consider getting a PharmD and teaching pharmacy students in the future.

Do I have to get a teaching credential for this? I think I want to do something along the lines of microbial pathogenesis and drug targets or even teach immunology to pharmacy students.

Anyone have any information on this?

I asked this question at MWU-CCP's MCV and person conducting our group said that they look for people who have done at least two years of residency in order to teach. I think some schools require having a residency to teach and others do not. I guess it depends on the school u where u want to teach.

You'll most likely will have to do a residency to teach. I know a few from my school that have done the primary care residencies and are now clinical professors at other colleges of pharmacy.

For a lot of schools, you'll have teaching resposibilities as a resident, either it be at the college itself or as a preceptor for 4th years on rotations. This will definitely give you the feel of teaching.
