  1. Pharmacist
Two years ago, when I made the decision I wanted to go to pharmacy school, i was ecstatic to find out that Chase Manhattan bank, the ppl who i have my undergraduate private loans through, had a PharmLoan, JUSt FOR pharmacy students

well.. this year i've decided that maxing out my federal is not covering it and i need to take out a little bit more to cover living so i can be sane and healthy and pass classes

imagine my suprise when i go back to chase manhattan tonite, and find out that the pharmloan has "disappeared".. its still listed on the AACP website.. but the link doesnt work

ran a search on the chase site for pharm loan and nada

and then i start looking at other lending facilities... and NO pharmacy loans

surrre.. loans for med students.. loans for med students on residencies.. loans for law students.... loans for naturopathic med students

but not &*&&^& loans for US!!!!!!!!

thoughts ?comments? vents? advice? if anyone can point me in the direction of a facillity that has a pharmloan, i would appreciate it

but i'm still calling chase on monday and seeing what the hell happened and why they dont offer the pharm loan.. and bitching appropriately.. *excuse me* of coures i mean diplomatically venting.. not bitching 😀

I agree with you there. stupid governemnt puts cap on how much we can borrow as educational loan. only other source will be private loans which has nothing to do with anything. not only this loan has unfair interest rate, you also need excellent crediet and low debt level. i gave up on getting another loan, i just cut down on my expenses.

I tried cutting down my expenses.. but seattle is EXPENSIVE! and i want a quiet, sane place to live.. i'm in the university district right now, and its hellacious, and i pay 600/month for a studio

i'm taking out the loans to move to a nothern area of the city that is more suburbanish, quieter, and move into a 1 bedroom for 800/month (tried finding a room mate, but everyone was already "coupled")

i'm just kinda angry chase took it away.. i was so happy 2 years ago when i found it..

i am going to call them, and ask them, respectfully and diplomatically, what their reasoning for taking it away was

Check out the Citiassist loans from citibank. I just had to do this cause my dispersment is not going to last me the three months it's suppose to. (I got 2500 for the qtr and I pay 2100 in rent for 3 months). They have no fees what so ever so you get all of the money you request. This is something you will have to go thru the UW loan office for. Good luck!

thanx! i'll take a look
since my undergrad loans were with chase, i was hoping to stay with them, since it would make only 2 different ppl to pay (chase and fed gov) instead of three.. but you gotta do what you gotta do

Federal loans max at 18.5K for our school. Tuition is 10.5K here. So that leaves 8K for everything else over the course of 9 months. Since a studio apartment is like 600/mo in Seattle, that leaves very little for anything else.

I am having to bump up my loan amounts too, since I am getting divorced and my bank account is getting frighteningly low.

Bank One offers a graduate/professional education loan that does not require school certification. This means that you can borrow any amount above the cost of attendance for a school (up to $30,000) regardless of how much federal aid you've already received.

Tae, as banana mentioned, our school gives 18,5 fed max
and i'm maxed out on that.. taken it all.. but i still have 6 grand in "unmet" need financially

and ramen gets old!

be careful of that one....it gains interest very fast! This is from the website

Repayment Example: $10,000 for 20 Years for Undergraduate/Career Education and Graduate/Professional Education Loans Annual Percentage Rate (APR) Example - If a student borrows $10,000 and chooses Repayment Option 3 (deferred principal and interest), and has a 4-year deferment period (48 months), and the variable interest rate remains constant at 6.16% over both the 4-year deferment period and the 20-year repayment period, and the origination fee is 6.5%, the monthly payment would be $99.11, the APR would be 8.10% during deferment and 6.16% during repayment, and the total finance charge would be $13,876.40.

In other words, you are paying over double of what you took out!!!

Mags,

yeah sorry about my sarcasm ealier. brill's post seem to be the answer for you (but be really really careful). good luck. i have been going w/ white rice diet for past 3 month. gotta feed the brain w/ glucose woo hoo! it is kinda sad when you think coffee as a valuable/actual meal of the day. i hope you feel better. OHHH good.. if you still have 6G unmet amount then you will have more options. pheww.... that's good news.

It's not cheap to borrow money above a school's budgeted cost of attendance. That's the only one I've ever seen that will let you do that.
