hi

finished medschool a year ago. intend to take a phd program in pharmacology or alternatively an MPH.

I have taken the GRE. SCORE= 500v 580q 1080 total

any ideas about which other programs and universities will be appropriate for this score. i wish to live in the midwest or the north west.

all assistance will be appreciated.thanks

Might not be the best forum as most of us never took the GRE.

Why do you want to do a PhD or an MPH after medical school? I believe there are residency programs in international health areas that actually confer an MPH. Or there are post-docs (from the NIH for example) for trained physicians who want to learn basic science research.

Do you want to do clinical medicine at all or just research? Did you apply for residency your 4th year?

Bear in mind that completing a PhD after finishing med school will make you 5+ years out of graduation so if you do ever want to get a residency, you may find it difficult or impossible. Certainly your options would be less attractive than they likely are now.

hi brunette.

I intend to start with research and possibly enter in a pediatrics residency program after taking Step 1 and 2.i guess it will be possible to run the 2 programs concurrently.

It appears to be an easier way to enter into the US medical postgraduate system.
I earned my degree from Ghana, West Africa. I will not be eligible for the NIH programme because i am not a US citizen.

I am still open for advice.thanks.
