I'm a 3rd year PhD student in immunology and am contemplating applying to med school after I finish my PhD. Basic reasons are that I'd like to have a bit more "human" interaction and focus my research more on a clinical level. Anyway, are there any advantages/disadvantages to taking this route? Should I also try to re-take certain undergrad classes I did not do superiorly on or should I just focus on doing well on the MCATs? Thanks.

u could try to waive outta certain pre-clinical classes, like micro/immuno, genetics, etc. I know my parents' friend did that.

By the time you finish your PhD, your undergrad grades won't have too much influence on your app because it was 5+ years ago. Also completing your PhD says a lot about your intellect, dedication, and focus. I'd focus on doing well on the MCAT, and gain some clinical exposure/volunteer work to help demonstrate to adcoms your sincerity about switching careers and pursing med school.
