My goal has been to make good money on the business side of the pharmaceuticals / biotechnology industry. I am a senior at an excellent university with a very high GPA majoring in biochemistry and minoring in math. I was contemplating whether I should go the MD/MBA route or the PhD (in biochem, bioE, or pharmacology)/MBA route. I may be wrong, but it seems to me most MD/MBAs work in hospital admin or in health insurance. But for my purposes, would there be any reason to get an MD instead of the PhD?

I think a PhD would be more suitable if you aren't planning to practice.. you might not enjoy what you have to go through as a medical student and could spend that time on research.

Or you could do all three MD/PhD/MBA and show everyone up. 👍

If your main purpose is to make money and do business, I would definitely avoid the MD and would go the PhD/MBA route. In fact, I would just go for the MBA, unless you really think you'd enjoy doing research for several years.

I agree. You will already have good credentials with the bachelor's in Biochem to secure a job on the administration side. Find a reputable biotech/pharm job for two years and apply to MBA. Some companies will even pay for your MBA if you guarantee you will work for them when you are done.
